Recent Food

To start of December, we had a birthday party for my daughter. It was a cold, negative-degrees day and there was a snowstorm that morning. We managed to have a wonderful party though full of laughs and warm smiles. One thing that really helped the party to be a success was the cakes that we had bought from Walmart. I know that normally I like to make my own cakes, but one thing that I've learned from being a mom is sometimes you have to pick your battles. I decided it wasn't worth the hassle. Walmart really delivered though. My daughter's smash cake was marble with whipped vanilla frosting. The guests' cake was marble as well but with Bavarian cream in the middle layer and with buttercream frosting. The cake was moist and sweet. The design was just how we asked. We really couldn't have asked for more besides maybe nicer weather.

Recently, I purchased mocha starbucks K-cups.Starbucks isn't my favorite coffee but it's better then the alternative which is no caffeine at all. But what I've been doing for coffee (caffeine) in the morning has been doing two shots of espresso in my mini espresso maker I put on the stove top. Then I'll add a cup of milk and 5 pumps of vanilla syrup.

This past weeked we went to El Mezacalito in Nevada, Iowa. It's a favorite of me and my husbands. I got the quesabirria and my husband got the fajita quesadilla.
