Smores cake from Liz Marek featured in "50 things to bake before you die"
This adventure started when I realized "Hey It's my mom's birthday this weekend". My mom always made homemade cakes for us on our birthday, and I realized that she never really gets one for her own birthday. I'm currently searching for a job, so I have a lot of time on my hands. So, last Friday morning I woke up at 9 AM and started this doozy of a recipe. I didn't get finished until 4:30pm. So, this was a 7-hour project from start to finish. There were not many breaks in between either.

The above picture was the moment of relief: all of the aspects of the cake were completed I just had to frost it! The layers are graham crackers (baked as a crust), Chocolate Cake batter added to the crust (baked again), Ganache, Marshmallow Fluff/Creme Mixed. After the elements are created, I assembled them: Cake, Ganache, then froze for 10 minutes, and then marshmallow fluff added, and repeat 3x! Not super pretty at this point!

When I brought the frosted cake to my mom's house for dinner, I brought my husband's mini torch and torched the meringue top. My mom likes burnt marshmallows, so my husband burned some of the top for her.

Here's my mom and I with the final product. The cake had to weigh at least 30 lbs.! It was very dense.
It was from this cookbook below:

I'm excited to try other recipes from this book since this one turned out so well!
